Ingredients

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons honey mustard
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons BBQ sauce preferably smoky variety
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 pinch smoked paprika optional

Method

  1. Step 1: Combine Ingredients
In a medium mixing bowl, add the mayonnaise, honey mustard, yellow mustard, BBQ sauce, honey, and lemon juice. If using, add a pinch of smoked paprika for extra depth.
  2. Step 2: Whisk Until Smooth
Using a whisk or fork, mix all ingredients together until completely smooth and well combined. The sauce should be creamy with a uniform golden-tan color and no streaks remaining. This takes about 30 seconds of whisking.
  3. Step 3: Taste and Adjust
Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings to your preference. If you want it sweeter, add a little more honey. For more tang, add an extra squeeze of lemon juice. For smokier flavor, add another drop of BBQ sauce.
  4. Step 4: Chill
Transfer the sauce to an airtight container or mason jar. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together and the sauce to thicken slightly.
  5. Step 5: Serve
Remove from refrigerator and stir before serving. Enjoy with chicken nuggets, fries, sandwiches, or your favorite dippable foods!

Notes

Storage: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. Always label with the date you made it.
BBQ Sauce Tips: I recommend using Sweet Baby Ray's or a similar hickory-flavored BBQ sauce. Avoid very thick or overly vinegary BBQ sauces as they can overpower the delicate balance of flavors.
Make It Spicy: Add a dash of your favorite hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper for a spicy kick.
Lighter Version: Substitute half the mayo with plain Greek yogurt for a lighter version with extra protein.
Temperature: This sauce tastes best when slightly chilled but not ice cold. Remove from fridge 5-10 minutes before serving for optimal flavor.
No Honey Mustard? You can make your own by mixing equal parts Dijon mustard and honey.
